Discover some of America’s great ideas, inventions, and innovators along Missouri Highway 36.  On this tour, learn about Mark Twain, Walt Disney, General John “Black Jack” Pershing, and visit the home of the world famous Budweiser Clydesdales breeding facility.  This tour was designed from an educational road trip in 2016 and we were extremely impressed with places we found hidden on the backroads of Missouri.  Join us to explore and enjoy what America has to offer!  A complete tour package, you only purchase one additional meal.

Daily Itinerary:
Day 1 Depart Terre Haute traveling to Fulton, Missouri to begin our tour at the National Churchill Museum.  Here you will find information describing who Winston Churchill was, what he did during the course of his long life, and why his legacy continues to inspire new generations today, fifty years after his death.  Located on the campus of Westminster College, this museum commemorates and celebrates the life, times, and distinguished career of Sir Winston Churchill and inspires current and future leaders by his example of resilience, determination, and resolution.  It remembers the life of Winston Churchill and keeps his memory alive for future generations.  After lunch, we will continue on to Boonville for a tour at Warm Springs Ranch.  This facility is home to more than 70 Budweiser Clydesdales, resting on more than 300 acres of lush, rolling hills in the heart of Missouri.  Established in 2008, it features a mare, stallion, and foaling barn, veterinary lab, and ten pastures, each with a customized, walk-in shelter.  Go behind the scenes and get up close and personal with the Clydesdales, explore the 25,000-square-foot facility, and find out what it takes to breed a legend.  See the Clydesdales’ harness, luxury trailer, 1903 beer wagon, and take a photo with a Clydesdale!  Overnight in Columbia, Missouri.
Day 2 Today, we will make our way to Laclede, Missouri, where we will visit the home of one of America’s greatest military leaders; General John “Black Jack” Pershing.  Learn how his leadership inspired other great military leaders.  A statue of “Black Jack” stands next to the home surrounded by granite tablets naming war veterans.  Inside Prairie Mound School, an exhibit gallery allows visitors to walk through the many doorways General Pershing passed through during his childhood life, military career, and numerous accomplishments.  Lunch will be hosted in Marceline, “Downtown USA. by the Church Ladies.  Next, we will visit the Walt Disney Hometown Museum to learn about one of America’s most-loved creators!  Walt, the man behind the Disney phenomenon, spent formative childhood days in Marceline and even patterned Main Street USA in Disneyland after Main Street in Marceline.  While perusing this special museum, you’ll feel transported to a simpler time and unlike the hustle and bustle of the Disney Theme Parks, you’ll feel closeness and get an intimate understanding of Walt Disney and his amazing life, history, and family.  We will depart Marceline traveling to Hannibal, Missouri.  All aboard the Mark Twain Riverboat for a beautiful evening dinner cruise.  Enjoy the scenes of the Mississippi, meet the captain, and be entertained with stories of the river.  Overnight in Hannibal, Missouri.
Day 3 We will begin our day at the Mark Twain Boyhood Home and Museum, which encompasses eight buildings including six historically significant buildings and two exciting, interactive museums whose collections include fifteen original Norman Rockwell paintings.  Discover how a young boy growing up in the small village of Hannibal became one of the world’s most beloved authors.  This tour gives you the chance to explore the Hannibal of Samuel Clemens’ childhood and experience the beloved stories he created as Mark Twain through the power of his imagination.  Hear a lecture from the museum’s curator on “Mark Twain the Inventor.”  Next, we board the Hannibal Trolley, where we will see notable landmarks as well as learn some history about Hannibal.  Mark Twain isn’t the only claim to fame the town has to offer!  We will make our way back to Terre Haute, arriving mid-evening.
