“This tour combines two popular summer resort destinations. Our days will be spent on or along the St. Lawrence River, Erie Canal, and Niagara River and should lend to a cooler atmosphere for this spectacular summer vacation.” -Annette

People from all corners of the world have fallen in love with the St. Lawrence River, its emerald islands and picturesque shores.  Take a scenic tour to a few of the over 1,800 islands by cruising through hidden channels to see the grand island homes and view the pristine wilderness of the islands.  Visit Boldt and Singer Castle for a tour of the castles and grounds.  Cruising is among the most popular reasons why visitors come here.  See lighthouses, fairytale castles, island mansions, all accompanied by true tales of pirates, bootleggers, and the Gilded Age rich and famous who all spent time here.  The wonder of wonders.  For over three centuries, Niagara Falls has served as a natural magnet that has attracted people from around the world to view its magic.  When these two destinations are combined ... you have a wonderful summer vacation!

Daily Itinerary:
Day 1 Depart Terre Haute traveling into New York with lunch and rest stops along the way.
Day 2 Continue our journey to Clayton, New York and the Antique Boat Museum.  Situated on a lovely harbor in the 1000 Islands, it features the largest collection of antique and classic boats on display in North America.  Learn about the boating history on the St. Lawrence River and tour George Boldt’s historic two-story house boat.  Travel onto Alexandria Bay, our home for two nights situated on the shores of the St. Lawrence River.
Day 3 Today, we will explore two historic castles located on private islands.  Our first tour will be of the Historic Boldt Castle and Boldt Yacht House.  This 120 room Rhineland-style castle and yacht house was built at the turn of the 20th century and is home to one of the saddest love stories ever told.  Wander the halls and imagine what could have been if tragedy had not struck.  This afternoon, we will visit the Singer Castle, built by Frederick Gilbert Bourne of the Singer Sewing Machine Company.  Tour the grounds and four floors of the castle before cruising back to Alexandria Bay.
Day 4 Experience a unique cruise which includes "locking through" and being raised the 49 feet elevation of the Niagara Escarpment (the same one that creates Niagara Falls) in the only double set of locks on the Erie Canal.  Pass under bridges that raise straight up, see water cascade over Lockport's famous "Flight of Five" 1840's locks, and travel through the solid walls of the "rock cut" as the captain describes the architecture, sights, and folklore along the way. When we return enjoy an early dinner overlooking the Erie Canal before traveling onto Niagara Falls, our home for the next two nights.  Catch a glimpse of the falls with the colorful Illumination of the Falls.
Day 5 Today is centered around Niagara Falls State Park, which is home to over 400 acres of lush landscape and wildlife, the beautiful Falls themselves, and many famous attractions.  This Frederick Law Olmsted designed park, the oldest State Park in the Nation, a natural splendor allows this park to be seen as nature intended it to be seen.  It’s time to ride the famous Maid of the Mist boat ride.  This iconic attraction will take your breath away and leave you in awe of Mother Nature as you experience the power and force of cataracts at the base of the Horseshoe Falls.  Don’t forget your camera!  Capture pictures of all three waterfalls from the Observation Deck in Niagara Falls State Park.  It is the only spot where this is possible on either side of the border!  View the Bridal Veil Falls up close as we journey along the Cave of The Winds.  The daring can walk up the stairs to the Hurricane Deck and have the water cascade down right next to them.  This evening is yours to enjoy!
Day 6 Time to say goodbye to our neighbors to the north and arrive home this evening.
