A premier light show held in Wheeling, West Virginia.  Oglebay Winter Festival of Lights has grown into the nation’s largest holiday light show, attracting more than a million visitors per year.  Oglebay’s Festival of Lights awarded  TOP 100 event by the American Bus Association for 20 years in a row.  This tour is designed as a chance to relax and enjoy the Christmas season in a beautiful and peaceful setting!  A complete tour package, you only purchase two additional meals.
FEATURES:  Festival of Lights Guided Tour - The Winter Festival of Lights started in 1985 with just five light displays and landscape lighting that covered 125 acres over a three mile drive.  Today, the Winter Festival of Lights features 80 larger than life displays and covers more than three hundred acres over a six mile drive.  World renown landscape lighting expert Dick Bosch and the late Robert J. Otten, Wheeling Park Commission’s long time director, were the creative talents behind Oglebay’s show.  Bosch’s lighting expertise was needed to produce just the right lighting for trees and buildings which is made more difficult in winter when the hardwoods are bare.  Bob Otten created nearly 50 additional displays. • Behind the Scenes of Festival of Lights - Learn how these masterpieces were created and what it takes to maintain them. • Good Zoo Winter Fantasy - Lights up for you!  This dazzling show takes place nightly on the zoo patio with more than 35,500 LED lights, choreographed to exciting holiday music.  Also included, the state’s largest O-Gauge Model Train Exhibit and the entertaining holiday laser show. • Oglebay Resort - Festively decorated for the holiday season.  The former estate of Earl Oglebay, who donated his summer estate including 1,650 acres to the city of Wheeling in 1926.  More than a hundred years ago, a tradition of generous hospitality was started at the summer estate of Earl Oglebay.  Today, Oglebay Resort offers 1,700 acres of year round recreational opportunities and excellent overnight accommodations but has retained its picturesque natural beauty.  Situated on a hilltop in the heart of Oglebay is the 270-room Wilson Lodge.  Facilities at the lodge include the West Spa, casual and fine dining, business center, wireless Internet, an indoor pool, jacuzzi, sauna, and game room. • Glass Museum - With displays of over 3,000 examples of West Virginia glass made from 18291939, the museum features cut lead crystal and Victorian art glass, plus the Sweeney Punch Bowl, the largest piece of cut lead crystal ever made.  Participants are able to experience live glassworking demonstrations in the studio. • Ihlenfeld Dining Room - Holiday themed buffets. • Holidays at the Mansion Museum - The museum, once the home of Colonel Oglebay and family, takes visitors on a journey into the past as they enter the treasure house full of antiques and history. • Holiday Shopping - Unique holiday items and special gifts. • Nightly Cordial Gathering with Live Entertainment
