A fun day away before the hustle and bustle of the Christmas season.  Enjoy a chance to step back in time and experience Christmas of yesteryear while enjoying lunch in a beautifully decorated historic setting.

HIGHLIGHT CITY:  Kokomo, IN

FEATURES:  Historic Elliott Carriage House - Enjoy a lunch buffet in this beautiful location. • Seiberling Mansion - This stunning Victorian mansion, built in 1891, features hand-carved woodwork, beautiful stained glass windows, third floor ballroom, and various exhibits on the history of Howard County.  In 1887, Monroe Seiberling of Akron, Ohio, traveled to Kokomo to open the Kokomo Strawboard Company, which would make shoeboxes out of straw and employ seventy-five people. Within six months, Seiberling, uncle of Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company founder Frank Seiberling, sold the Kokomo Strawboard Company and opened the Diamond Plate Glass Company. He began construction on his mansion in October 1889 at a cost of $50,000, with construction ending within two years. The mansion is built in a mixture of Neo-Jacobean and Romanesque Revival styles.  Celebrate a Victorian Christmas as the mansion and grounds will be beautifully decorated head-to-toe for the holidays with thousands of Christmas lights, wreaths, trees, and holiday décor throughout! • Kokomo Opalescent Glass - America’s Oldest ArtGlass Company!  Producing art glass in its original location since 1888.  Watch as art glass is hand-ladled and rolled from a 2,500 degree furnace and watch artists make blown glass creations in the Hot Glass Studio.  Over 22,000 variations of sheet glass are produced in the facility, which ships glass all over the world.  In addition, see glass bead-making demonstrations, and a gift shop that offers one-of-a-kind Kokomo-made art glass souvenirs.  Note: Open toe shoes and sandals are not permitted on tour.
