"I have rated this tour a Pace 4 ... if you choose not to explore the French Quarter and New Orleans via walking to and from our hotel and visiting all the great place you could consider this a Pace 3.   You will either be spending additional time at the hotel or paying for local transportation." -Annette

Back by popular demand with a few new twists.  This tour highlights the best of New Orleans and Cajun Country with some rare jewels.  We will spend every night at our favorite home away from home - Drury Inns, featuring the hotel’s Kickback Dinners, this is a complete tour package with all meals included.  (If you choose to utilize this service of the hotel.)

Daily Itinerary:
Day 1 Travel southwest to Ridgeland, Mississippi for our overnight.
Day 2 Depart Ridgeland traveling to Lafayette, Louisiana.  Our first stop is the Alexandre Mouton House, a rich narrative that truly makes it a treasured piece of Lafayette's history.  The home was constructed in 1800 by Jean Mouton, who was one of the first settlers of Southwest Louisiana.  Next, we will explore the St. John Cathedral Oak and Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist.  About the time Christopher Columbus was making his voyages to the new world, an oak tree began to grow on a ridge in the middle of this Attakapas Indian territory.  Now, the near five-century old tree measures nine feet in diameter, with a circumference of 28 feet 8 inches; and stands 126 feet high and is 210 feet across.  Check into our hotel for two nights with time to freshen up before spending the evening at Martin Accordions.  For over 30 years they have built hand-made, single row, diatonic accordions for musicians around the world, who rely on the squeeze boxes to provide the sweet, rich sound that Cajun and Zydeco is known for.
Day 3 Our first stop of the day will be the Jean Lafitte National Historical Park, showcasing significant examples of the rich natural and cultural resources of Louisiana's Mississippi River Delta region.  We will make our way to the Tabasco Pepper Sauce Factory at Avery Island.  This new self-guided, ten stop Tabasco tour will take you through the museums, the greenhouse, barrel warehouse, and the factory building.  Save your appetite and be ready to taste your way through the Tabasco Country Store.  Next, we will visit the Conrad Rice Mill, “America’s Oldest Working Rice Mill.”  Take a walking tour of the mill and shop in the Konriko Company Store.  Return to Lafayette.
Day 4 This morning we will travel to Houma, Louisiana to visit the Greenwood Gator Farm.  Take a trip through the swamp with Tim “The Gator Man” Domangue on a pontoon style kraft.  We will also tour the farm to learn all about and hold an alligator.  We will explore New Orleans by motorcoach with a local guide, traveling through three centuries of history, legends, and romance as we encounter “The City That Care Forgot.”  Check into our hotel for the next two nights, which is located three blocks from the French Quarter.  (Upon arrival at our hotel, there will be no motorcoach transportation until Day 6.)
Day 5 Today is yours to enjoy at your leisure with the exception of meeting at the famous Court of Two Sisters for a jazz brunch.  A sumptuous selection of hot and cold dishes, traditional favorites plus a wonderful selection of cajun and creole dishes.  During your free time, you will find more than enough to keep you busy.  Ride the streetcar on St. Charles Avenue, cruise the Mississippi River, explore the French Quarter, enjoy a beignet and cafe’ au lait, or shop the French Market.  Laissez les bon temps rouler ... in cajun french means “Let the Good Times Roll” and today you will for sure!
Day 6 This morning we will visit the National World War II Museum.  From the beaches of Normandy to the Sands of Iwo Jima, the museum’s exhibits are a blend of personal accounts, artifacts, documents, photographs, and original film footage.  Today, we will have to learn for our lunch which will be at the New Orleans Cooking School.  Watch, learn, and eat!  Sit back and enjoy watching skilled, entertaining chefs prepare a classic cajun/creole meal, while learning about the vibrant history of New Orleans cuisine.  Travel back to Ridgeland, Mississippi for our overnight.
Day 7 Travel northeast arriving home tonight.
