Kentucky style meets Southern Splendor at Louisville’s Landmark Hotel! An iconic destination inextricably woven into the fabric of the city, The Brown Hotel is opulent yet approachable – like a fine Kentucky bourbon that never overwhelms you with its history but instead entertains you with a lifetime of colorful stories. Behind its striking Georgian-Revival façade is a blend of Old World elegance and modern-day comfort, a place where generations of Louisville’s finest have celebrated weddings and anniversaries, and corporate meeting planners have discovered unerring style and sophistication. Having now passed its centennial, The Brown Hotel reflects the rich heritage and Southern gentility that have made Louisville a hot spot for bluegrass enthusiasts, bourbon drinkers, equestrians and Derby Day revelers. A wonderful time to enjoy Christmas at this Historic Hotel of America.

FEATURES:  The Brown Hotel -  Once we arrive on Saturday afternoon time slows as we embrace the beauty and grandeur of our surroundings. Our dinner this evening will be a culinary and historical event. The Hot Brown was born here! Dreamed up in the 1920’s by Chef Fred Schmidt, The Hot Brown is a Louisville culinary tradition. The open face turkey sandwich with bacon and a Mornay sauce, created to satisfy the early morning cravings of the hotels roaring 20’s dinner dance guests. We will enjoy a wonderful dinner along with a history lesson. • Culbertson Mansion State Historic Site - William Culbertson moved to Indiana seeking a new life and eventually became one of the richest men in the state and a renowned philanthropist. In fact, Culbertson invested much of his wealth in New Albany, involving himself in civic affairs, funding  the construction of the Culbertson Widows Home, serving as a trustee of the First Presbyterian Church, and founding the Cornelia Memorial Orphans Home, named for the second of his three wives. His mansion stands as an example of the tastes, ideals and lifestyles of the late 1800s. Enjoy a Spirits of Christmas Tour with the telling of ghose stories as done on Christmas Eve. An ancient tradition that gained popularity during the Victorian era. Listen to the historical spooky stories and hear about the eerie happenings in the mansion. We finish our time there with a tour of the mansion. •  Lights under Louisville - Louisville Mega Cavern’s Lights Under Louisville returns with more than 40 themed displays, multiple projection areas, approximately 900 lit characters, new exciting themes, two laser locations, multiple light tunnels, holiday music and over 6,500,000 points of light that will immerse visitors in a megadose of holiday cheer. It's the only underground light show of its kind on the planet! The Christmas Express is back and better than ever! Each year the Louisville Mega Cavern is transformed into an underground holiday light spectacular for the Christmas season. Sit back and enjoy a 30-minute tour of Lights Under Louisville. • Schmipff’s Confectionary - One of the oldest, continuously operated, family-owned candy businesses in the United States. It was opened in its present location in 1891 by Gustav Schimpff Sr. and Jr. Its Candy Museum and Candy Demonstration Area offer a glimpse into the world of historic candy making, packaging and advertising.
