Daily Itinerary:
Sunday, April 20: Terre Haute to Las Vegas
Depart Terre Haute traveling to Indianapolis International Airport for our flight to Las Vegas, Nevada. You are responsible for your baggage check in and fees. Arrive at the Las Vegas Airport where we will meet our local tour director and enjoy a group transfer to your hotel near the airport. This evening, we will have a welcome dinner at a local restaurant. (Dinner)
Monday, April 21: Las Vegas to Grand Canyon National Park
Enjoy an included breakfast at the hotel before our day starts. Depart Las Vegas early this morning and start your travels with your first stop in Kingman, AZ for a brief experience with the Route 66 Museum in the Old Kingman Powerhouse and a drive down Andy Devine Blvd. Afterwards, we hop on I-40 and arrive in Williams where you will enjoy lunch on your own at one of the local eateries and a chance to explore this historic Railroad town. After lunch, you will travel north to Grand Canyon National Park. This park will offer you the opportunity to look down or hike down into the Grand Canyon and experience the majesty and grandeur of this park. The shuttle system will provide access to all of the most scenic viewpoints. You can also take a scenic walk along the rim of the canyon between Mather Point and the Geology Museum or walk the trail of time between the geology museum and El Tovar Hotel. This evening, check into your hotel just outside the park with the evening free for dinner on own with included meal money. (Breakfast, Meal $)
Tuesday, April 22: Grand Canyon National Park to Page
Enjoy an included breakfast at the hotel before our day starts. This morning, return to Grand Canyon National Park with some free time to explore on your own using the shuttle system. Then continue sightseeing as you travel along the South Rim toward the east entrance of the park. Along the way, you will stop at Grandview Point, the site of the first hotel on the rim of the canyon, and Desert Watchtower. After Desert Watchtower, stop for at historic Cameron Trading Post for lunch on your own and the opportunity to see authentic Navajo workmanship and craftsmanship. This afternoon will be another filled with wonder and beauty as you travel north past the Vermillion Cliffs on your way to explore Lake Powell. Enjoy a Scenic Boat Cruise on Lake Powell to view the towering red rock canyons from the emerald waters of the lake. Then arrive at your hotel near Lake Powell in the town of Page. This evening, visit Red Heritage Dinner Show for an evening of Navajo food and entertainment. (Breakfast, Dinner)
Wednesday, April 23: Page to Winslow
Enjoy an included breakfast at the hotel before our day starts. Begin your day with an early tour of Upper Antelope Canyon on a Navajo Guided Experience. This sandstone slot canyon, renowned for its undulating angles and light shafts will fill your morning with a thrill you won’t soon forget. You will be guided through the iconic sandstone walls, shaped by years and years of water and wind. Your tour guide will show you places through the canyon to take memorable photos, tell you some history of the canyon, and some local history about the Navajo People. The walk through the canyon is a good 1/4 mile, once we’ve reached the end of the canyon we will then proceed to hike around the canyon – this 3/4 mile hike does involve soft sand, stairs, and ramps, and best to wear closed-toe shoes. Then travel through the Hopi Nation and learn about one of the oldest cultures in North America. Arrive at the Hopi Cultural Center for lunch on own and touring. Next you will tour the village of Old Oraibi, the oldest, continuously inhabited settlement in north America. In the afternoon, travel to Winslow and check into the La Posada Hotel. This is one of the few Fred Harvey Houses still operating, a relic from the glory days of travel by rail and Route 66. Enjoy your evening in this historic town. (Breakfast, Meal $)
Thursday, April 24: Winslow to Sedona
Enjoy an included breakfast at the hotel before our day starts. This morning, enjoy touring Petrified Forest National Park. Start with the beautiful scenery and cascading colors found in the Painted Desert area. After the painted desert, you will get to explore the ancient, petrified forests that have been lying dormant for millions of years in this area. There are multiple formations and hikes to explore and visit, along with more views and vistas of the Painted Desert. You will learn about these unique and rare geological specimens and their unique history. After lunch in Holbrook, travel past Flagstaff and into Oak Creek Canyon for a scenic drive to Sedona. When you arrive, you will have the evening free to explore the Old Town area or the Tlaquepaque Arts Village, or hike on the many trails that are found in this area. (Breakfast, Lunch)
Friday, April 25: Sedona
Enjoy an included breakfast at the hotel before our day. This morning you can rise with the sun and enjoy a walk or hike on your own, there are several trails to choose from. Or you can relax and enjoy the sunshine. Later in the morning, experience a classic must do in Sedona, a Pink Jeep Tour! Your local driver will take you on a trail that offers access to the amazing red-rock formations of Sedona! After the jeep tour, the rest of the day is free to explore Sedona on your own. Transfers from the hotel to the main shopping and dining areas will be provided. (Breakfast, Meal $)
Saturday, April 26: Sedona to Scottsdale
Enjoy an included breakfast at the hotel before our day starts. After breakfast, depart Sedona and continue your adventure by traveling up the mountain to Jerome. The historic mining town of Jerome is home to some fantastic histories of the miners, mine owners, and outlaws who made this one of the most wicked and richest towns in the western US. Reduced to a ghost town, this town is experiencing a resurgence of growth with artists and some great restaurants. You will enjoy a few hours learning about this history and other fascinating things that occurred in this western boomtown. Then take a very short drive to Nearby Clarksdale and arrive at the Verde Canyon Railroad for lunch on own followed by a wonderful train ride. The ride on Verde Canyon Railroad’s historic route from Clarkdale to Perkinsville and back, into Arizona’s other “grand canyon,” is an unforgettable adventure. Captivating panoramic views are revealed in every direction, exclusively from the relaxed atmosphere of the train. This historic ribbon of rail runs through a protected corridor at the river’s edge, lined with towering red rock pinnacles, near ancient Indian ruins, over fortified bridges and through an invigorating 734-foot manmade tunnel carved through solid rock over a century ago. As far as the eye can see, wildlife, high-desert foliage and rugged terrain are visible on this year-round adventure into a lush riparian habitat. After a wonderful ride, travel south to the Sonoran Dessert and Scottsdale for a farewell dinner at a local restaurant and overnight. (Breakfast, Dinner)
Sunday, April 27: Scottsdale to Terre HauteEnjoy an included breakfast at the hotel before our day starts. Travel to Phoenix International Airport and board our plane for our flight to Indianapolis International Airport. You are responsible for your baggage check in and fees. Upon arrival in Indianapolis, we board our TURNER coach for our ride back to Terre Haute. Meal money included for meal enroute home. (Breakfast, Meal $)
