To truly experience the program and destination, you need to be able to participate in physical activities such as longer walking tours, walking over uneven terrain, climbing stairs, and periods of standing. Some of the touring days will be long and are fast paced.

Since this is an indepth tour encompassing 4 days and is a Pace 4, you are required to fill out a reservation form  and meet with our Tour Director prior to signup. This is to ensure that you understand all the details of this tour.

Washington DC is a walkable city and during the course of this tour we will walk three to five miles per day, more depending on the amount of exploring you wish to achieve. This tour was designed to experience Washington DC on a structured schedule on day one and day four traveling by motorcoach as a group. On day two and day three you will be on your own to explore and visit the attractions that interest you the most. Our hotel is The Grand Hyatt located at 1000 H ST NW, is a perfect location to explore from on your own during our stay in Washington, DC. This location is within walking distance to most attractions you may want to visit and offers the ease of public transportation.
 

Daily Itinerary:
Day 1 Thursday, October 30:  Terre Haute to Washington, DC
Depart Terre Haute traveling to Indianapolis International Airport for our flight to Washington DC. You are responsible for your baggage check in and fees. Arrive at the Reagan International Airport where we will meet our motorcoach and begin our touring of Washington, DC.  Our tour this afternoon will be centered  as an introduction to the National Mall, Smithsonian Museums, US Capitol and White House region. After lunch we will have an overview of these regions and have a guided walking tour of the Memorials including visits to the Jefferson Memorial, FDR Memorial,  and the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial. We will enjoy an early dinner followed a guided night tour of the Memorials including visits to the World War II Memorial, Vietnam War Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, and the Korean War Memorial.  Check into our hotel for the next three nights.   (Dinner)
 
Day 2 Friday, October 31 - Saturday, November 1: Washington, DC
During these two days you may choose to visit the Museums of the Smithsonian Institute. To learn more visit https://www.si.edu/visit/museums. On this website you will learn which museums house what artifacts and which ones require you to reserve (free) entrance in advance. There are endless attractions that could be listed here … during your initial meeting with Annette we will discus what you want to see and do during your trip and help you plan these two days in advance to get the most out of your time in DC. We will also go over the need for preregistering or purchasing entrance tickers in advance.           (MM $ Daily) 
Day 4 Sunday, November 2:  Washington, DC to Terre Haute
We start the morning by checking out of the hotel and boarding the motorcoach to start our morning of touring.  We will have a chance to see the North Front of the White House from Lafayette Park where you can take photos and enjoy the view. Then we will head into Virginia to Arlington National Cemetery where you will take a tram tour and see the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the Changing of the Guard Ceremony, the Challenger Memorial, and the Kennedy Grave Sites. Prior to making our way to Reagan International Airport, we will visit the Marine Corps War Memorial and the Air Force Memorial. Transfer to airport and board our plane for our flight to Indianapolis International Airport. You are responsible for your baggage check in and fees. Upon arrival in Indianapolis, we board our TURNER coach for our ride back to Terre Haute.  (Meal $)
