The name on this tour only showcases one portion of this tour so here is the layout of our day.  As you know we love to visit our Indiana State Parks in the fall and this tour is no exception.  We are excited to have been offered the opportunity to also include Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site in our day of Eating and Exploring.

FEATURES:  Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site - Take a tour of this beautiful 10,000 sq.ft. Italianate Victorian family home of President Benjamin Harrison – our country’s 23rd US President (1889-1893) and Indiana’s only President. Built in 1875, the home is beautifully furnished with many of Harrison’s paintings, furniture, and other artifacts including political memorabilia. Trained docents guide you on a 70-90 minute tour of the elegant home. The dining room features presidential china, and Harrison’s study is filled with personal belongings from his White House years and his oval office desk. The majority of the house furnishings - which give an accurate view of the Victorian era - are original to the Harrison family, including stunningly recreated original wallpaper designs in the parlors and library. The third floor ballroom exhibit changes yearly. A grand feature of our tours is that you are able to directly enter most historic rooms of the museum. • Fort Harrison State Park - Named after the former military installation, Fort Benjamin Harrison, which was named in honor of Benjamin Harrison, the 23rd President of the United States and a native of Indianapolis. The fort opened in 1906 and operated until 1991, after which parts of the former base were converted into the state park.  The former Citizen's Military Training Camp is preserved around the park office in what was once known as Camp Glenn. Visitors may also want to stop at the park's Museum of 20th Century Warfare to view exhibits about the lives and history of the soldiers who once marched the grounds of old Fort Harrison.  • Bucca di Beppo - Like Little Italy in the ’50s, Buca di Beppo celebrates the hearty cooking of Southern Italy. It’s a place where you can smell the homemade marinara sauce before you reach the door. Here, you are surrounded by Kitchy entertaining decor that makes everyone feel at home. Dishes go straight from the kitchen to the middle of your table – family-style.
