The winding roads around Western South Dakota make for a great Western Adventure.  Add in Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Badlands, and Black Hills and you have an amazing Great Plains Getaway! We are excited to spend eight days exploring this breathtaking area filled with history and heritage.

FEATURES: Dignity: Of Earth and Sky - The stainless steel, 50-foot-tall statue was specifically designed by sculptor Dale Lamphere to honor the cultures of the Lakota and Dakota people. That’s why he used three Native American models ages 14, 29, and 55 to perfect the face of Dignity. A stunning combination of art and history! • Badlands National Park - This striking landscape boasts a maze of buttes, canyons, pinnacles, and spires.  Skeletons of three-toed horses and saber toothed cats are among the many fossilized species found here.  Travel part of the 244,000 acres on the Badlands Loop Scenic Byway while in search of wildlife. • Wall Drug Store - Founded in 1931, it claims to be the world’s largest drugstore and the first to advertise free glasses of ice water. • Crazy Horse Memorial - The world's largest mountain carving and is considered The Eighth Wonder of the World in progress. Explore the grounds and have a special up-close viewing from the base of the mountain. • Mount Rushmore National Memorial - America’s Shrine of Democracy, Mount Rushmore National Memorial features the 60-foot faces of four great American presidents who represent the birth, growth, development, and preservation of this country. • Black Hills Central Railroad 1880’s Train - Imagine yourself immersed in the staggering beauty of the Black Hills as we ride from Keystone to Hill City aboard a vintage steam train. • Deadwood Historical Tour - Discover the Gold Rush of 1874 that changed the area forever. Almost, overnight Deadwood grew into one of the area’s largest towns full of miners looking to strike it rich. The legends that surround this small boomtown are known worldwide for being some of the roughest and toughest outlaws around. See first hand, where legendary names like Wild Bill Hickok and Calamity Jane walked and were laid to rest. Travel through the Historic Streets of Deadwood, up to Mt. Moriah Cemetery to visit the historic graves. • The Days of '76 Museum - Celebration began in 1924 as a way to honor Deadwood’s first pioneers - the prospectors, miners, mule skinners, and madams who poured into the Black Hills in 1876 to settle the gold-filled gulches of Dakota Territory.  The museum began, informally, as a repository for the horse-drawn wagons, stagecoaches, carriages, clothing, memorabilia, and archives generated by the celebration. The museum is now a state-of-the-art facility filled with dynamic and thematic exhibitions. • Minuteman Missile National Historic Site Visitors - Explore the Minuteman II system’s role as a nuclear deterrent during the Cold War.  Learn the story of the Minuteman Intercontinental Ballistic Missile System. • Falls Park -  The falls of the Big Sioux River are the center of the 123-acre park.  An average of 7,400 gallons of water drop 100 feet over the course of the Falls each second. • The Corn Palace - See the world’s only Corn Palace come to life as it is redecorated with new corn, grain, and grass. •  Custer State Park - Nestled in the picturesque Black Hills, Custer State Park is a natural wonderland awaiting your exploration. This expansive park spans 71,000 acres and offers diverse landscapes, from rolling prairies to towering granite peaks. As one of the largest state parks in the United States, Custer State Park is known for its abundant wildlife, including a thriving herd of over 1,400 free-roaming bison. •  Custer State Park Jeep Tours -  The buffalo safari tour will take you where only they can go: off-road to the private, interior dirt roads of the Park. Trek through the park in an open-air Jeep in search of pronghorns, elk, and the noble buffalo. Along the way, the guides will share historical and educational facts about the park and wildlife - and help you spot the critters. • State Game Lodge - As the first and largest lodge in Custer State Park, the State Game Lodge is the primary resort hub within Custer State Park. This lodge is known for its grand, historic character and tradition. The State Game Lodge served as the “Summer White House” for President Calvin Coolidge in 1927 and was visited by President Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1953. And the Grace Coolidge Creek still serenely winds through the valley today.
