Our third year of ending the travel season at a prestigious property and this year is like icing on the cake … The Seelbach Hilton Louisville is an historic hotel in Louisville, Kentucky. Founded by Bavarian-born immigrant brothers Louis and Otto Seelbach, it opened in 1905 as the Seelbach Hotel, and is designed in the French Renaissance style. The hotel has hosted numerous celebrities, including F. Scott Fitzgerald, who took inspiration from the Seelbach for a hotel in The Great Gatsby.

FEATURES: Schmipff’s Confectionary - One of the oldest, continuously operated, family-owned candy businesses in the United States. It was opened in its present location in 1891 by Gustav Schimpff Sr. and Jr. Its Candy Museum and Candy Demonstration Area offer a glimpse into the world of historic candy making, packaging and advertising. Enjoy a live candy-making demonstration before time to shop for holiday treats. • Kentucky Derby Museum - With over 20,000 artifacts, exclusive Churchill Downs tours, immersive exhibits and an exclusive 360° film, there’s so much to learn, explore and experience at Kentucky Derby Museum. It’s all the fun and excitement of Derby day, every day, and all in one place. • The Seelbach Hilton Louisville  - Over a century ago, F. Scott Fitzgerald was stationed in Louisville at Camp Taylor during World War I, where he frequented the Seelbach Hotel, enjoying bourbon, cigars, and dancing. His time in the city left a mark, inspiring scenes in The Great Gatsby - published in 1925 - including Tom and Daisy Buchanan’s wedding and other romantic moments.  Start our stay with a welcome reception as we step into a world of jazz-age elegance with a Gatsby History Tour, retracing the steps of F. Scott Fitzgerald as he began crafting The Great Gatsby. Revel in the hotel's timeless charm - a true cat’s meow for lovers of the 1920s. • Conrad Caldwell Mansion - The Finest example of Richardsonian Romanesque architecture in Louisville, built in 1893 on St. James Court in the Old Louisville neighborhood, which features the largest collection of Victorian homes in the U.S. “Conrad’s Castle” featured all the latest innovations of its day, including interior plumbing and electric lighting. This massive Bedford, Indiana limestone home, is covered with gargoyles, archways, and elaborate stone designs. The interior features beautiful woodwork, parquet floors and magnificent stained glass windows, making it one of the most stunning homes in Old Louisville. The museum’s interior is decorated in the Edwardian Age style, housing a massive collection of period items including many original pieces while showing-off the abundant lifestyles of the prominent businessmen and entrepreneurs who once lived in the neighborhood. • The Frazier History Museum - Where the world meets Kentucky. Explore cultures past and present through an extensive collection of historical items displaying what makes Kentucky cool, famous weaponry, historical information on America's native spirit Bourbon, and much more.  •  Lights on Main - Step into a magical winter wonderland at the seventh annual Lights on Main, a special exhibition the Frazier is hosting in partnership with the nonprofit I Would Rather be Reading.
